Offering Tahajjud Salah After Witr Salah Offered With Isha

Assalam-o-Alaikum

I pray Isha Namaz as follows

4 rakat Fard

3 rakat witr

And I also offer 3 rakat nafil namaz as tahjjud before fajr namaz

I know witr and tahjjud are similar but I want to pray Nafil namaz as tahjjud at mid night also. so is this a right way to pray 3 rakat nafil at night after offering 3 rakat witr in isha namaz already.

If one is sure that they are going to offer Tahajjud Salah on its proper time, then its better that one prays witr with that Tahajjud Salah, and can offer only two rakat Nafal Salah after Isha’s four Rakat Farz. But if not sure, then one can adopt this strategy of praying witr earlier with Isha and later on, if one gets a chance to offer Tahajjud, then with Tahajjud Salah as well.

It is not a strict issue because it is a Nafal Salah to begin with, and rules and regulations are compratively lenient for Nafal rituals. Secondly, Prophet Muhammad (Sws) himself used to offer two rakat separate nafal Salah after Tahajjud Salah, since Tahajjud Salah was Farz on the Prophet (SWS).

  Yes, correct. The sole purpose of Witr is to make rakats of Tahajjud odd.

  What I have understood from the videos is that if I am offering 3 rakat witr after isha then at midnight if I am offering tahjjud salah it should be 2 or 4 rakat so eventually it will become odd

  Yes, this method is also correct. Bottomline is that Tahajjud Salah sould be in odd numbers and witr is offered to achieve this objective.
