If there is no intention at all to understand the meaning at any stage, mere listening avail nothing but love of Quran and listening to it does have a good effects on believers, so it it will help them getting near to God and religion. Sawab is a term to show the pleasure of God. This listening may please God but we don’t know.

Ghamidi Sahib explains in a video that if listening to Quran is to understand and follow the guidance of Quran, then listening will earn Swab. On the other hand, listening without understanding or intention to follow may not earn any swab.
