  • How To Understand Contradictory Timeframes Of Qiyamah In Quran

In Surah Naziat the Quran says that

    • Dr. Mustafa Khattab:

On the Day they see it, it will be as if they had stayed ˹in the world˺ no more than one evening or its morning.

    An-Nazi’at, Ayah 46

But in multiple other chapters it repeatedly mentions one hour of a day, how to understand this?

The Qur’an is describing the perception of different people on Day of Judgment. Some will see and try to calculate how long they stayed, they will conclude they stayed for some time, other will say some days, other will say they stayed an evening or morning, other will say we actually stayed an hour but then later on Allah will comment that the most knowledagable will have the right idea i.e they actually stayed no longer than a few moments.

Also it has come to our understanding in modern era that time is relative, people who understand this aspect of time, will have the knowledge to make the right estimation on the Day of Judgment.
