Quran 16:105 – Lies Of Disbelievers
Hello, assalamualaikum
My question is that once going through an article of a website which was of shia people. They wrote that a liar is not a believer and they gave Ayat 105 of Surah Nahl which says
Only they invent falsehood who believe not Allah’s revelations, and (only) they are the liars.
My question was that does this mean that only and only a disbeliever can lie? If a Muslim lies would it account on him disbelief? Is this referring to those people forging lie about prophet (that a Non-Arab teaches then Quran) or in all general sense where it’s unlawful for eg if a person lies about his coming late to the school. Because looking in the translation of Ayah it states in a way that someone may make it to mean that it refers to all times and liars in general that every type of unlawful lie makes a person real disbeliever (or like the mutazila say that if not in this world then, in the hereafter having same fate like a disbeliever). This question used to come in my mind, as to what if its general. Can you give me some evidences that suggest that this Ayat speaking about especially for those people and not like in a general sense that anyone who lies.
Thank you
