As noted in this previous discussion, the criteria for any message to be widely accepted by people and to be widely held as truth and thus progress humanity further in any field is not the truthfulness or correctness of that idea.
Thus as a avid student/wannabe researcher(alim), what motivation is left to discover and ponder on the frontiers of any field of knowledge (is it to just find the truth for yourself or to convince the small number of people who will accept your new idea), sincerely asking.

It had not always been possible for the Prophets to convince a majority of his addressees about the truth he convey. They believed the truth yet they denied it. Truth is a precious thing to appreciate and a few do that who elevate themselves from their petty motives and biases. It is the noblest job to pursue truth and spread it to those noble souls who would appreciate it.
