    Hello there!

My question is that there’s a Hadith

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Competitions with prizes are allowed only in camel racing, horse racing, and shooting arrows.”

Can you explain what does this hadith mean? And from where in the Quran or Sunnah can we trace it’s roots? And does it mean every competition for prize is Haram except these 3?

This is not a religious injunction. Since there were no organized armies at that time, so it was a relevant measure at that time to encourage people to engage in activities and develop relevant skills that would help Muslims prepare for Jihad.
