    Assalamualaikum

Under Quran 7:33, where Quran says that except eatable and drinkable things, only five things are haram. So i think listening to music only for fun with immoral content would be absolutely haram. But sometimes there comes a need where you read or listen to immoral things not only for fun but for education purposes. Like e.g there are great pieces of literature, beautifully written but with immoral content. Or if the content can be apparently ok in one context but maybe written with some whole superstitious or polytheistic background like sufi literature. Like poems written by them are masterpieces but if one put these poems in their specific (maybe if I’m not wrong then God as Lover, or an urge of unity with Him) contexts then the whole story changes.

So would these also come under Quran category? If not then in which things would this principle apply??

Quran 7:33 is in the context of immoral behavior and an immoral act is that which is conducted with respect to others. With that understanding, if one consumes certain immoral content for a required educational purpose then there is no accountability for it. However, in the case of entertainment, depending upon the context it might be considered a minor sin. If the minor sin does not lead to a major sin then it is forgivable. But if a minor sin leads to a major sin then one shall be accountable for both the minor sin as well as the major sin.
