72 Virgins In Jannah And Objectification Of Women
I work in a hosp where majority of people either don’t care about religion. I am having very difficult time explaining why would Allah Swt mention women as a reward in Jannah. Doesn’t it objectify women. Then on the other hand it is mentioned that men and women are equal. If one gender is supposed to be used as a reward for other, there is no equality?

The tradition of 72 Hoors is not authentic.
Hoor is the same woman of the earth in paradise. Hoor is a quality, which means a woman of fair complexion, it is not a personal noun. For details watch the video lecture series of Ghamidi saheb on Hoor.

Having said that A good man can be as good a reward for a woman as a woman for a man. The Quran uses the cultural and linguistic style of its time and still, it is prevalent that in such matters, men are addressed, not women, it is the decorum. The poetry too is full of fantasy about women by men, but women did not express that much and not in a manner men expressed their emotions for them.
It is obvious, that if the companionship of a woman for a man is a reward, so it is man’s companionship for a woman is a reward for her, which was avoided mention as it was obvious and for the sake of decorum.
To be a reward does not mean to be objects like fruits and other things of Paradise, as far as the woman is concerned, there is nothing greater reward for a man than a woman. It is told that along with other things, your greater wish, the companionship of woman will be granted too. It is good tiding for women too, especially when you understand it with the principle statement by God that everyone will get there whatever one wishes.
