Prophet Muhammad (sws) Payment On Loan To A Jew
Salaam Alaikum,
Some years ago I came across a narration that our Prophet (saw) borrowed money from a jew. The jew had demanded riba on it and the Prophet (saw) repaid him with the riba. Can you confirm if this is true? In case of there is such a narration, can you provide its reference? And the soundness of the narration?

I read it some years ago. I don’t remember the reference myself. I have being searching the internet and found no such reference. As I understand, the prophet pbuh used to repay his loans with goodness in the way that he himself, without an agreement, used to pay more than what he owed as a good gesture. I don’t think now, that there is any narration that specifies that the prophet pbuh ever gave interest on any loan he owed to anyone. I just want to confirm this.

To the best of my knowledge, the prophet never took a loan with interest.
