  • Why Is Learning Islam Feel Heavier And Stressful?

The first thing I have observed is that sometimes people avoid learning the basics of Islam as it exposes their faults and weaknesses.

Secondly, they are afraid of the burden of correcting those mistakes once they are aware of them.

Thus, it feels scary to learn Islam. They rather prefer being oblivious as it is less stressful.

Beyond the above reasoning, learning Islam at a deeper level, I find it very stressful and burdensome when I am at a continuous learning pace.

It seems like anytime I want to go deeper at a level, I have to take a long break; otherwise, it becomes too stressful.

Secondly, it feels non-productive to learn deeper when I have already established a very strong faith based on logic and heart and when I already know it all that is necessary to earn Junnah.

My question is… Why do I need to learn Islam any deeper and why it feels very heavy and stressful if I try to learn deeper without a break.

Similarly, why was it so heavy and stressful for our prophet to receive the Quran?

Shouldn’t it all be a pleasant and euphoric experience?

Apart from it, understanding Deen at a scholarly level is a laborious job and yes it is stressful. Only a strong aptitude for scholarly learning can help and it is the same for any scholarly discipline. We all take breaks, some take short ones, and some need more time to revitalize their energy.

Thank you for your response Dr. Irfan.

I wonder why learning Islam is stressful and why it was so stressful for the prophet. Shouldn’t it be a pleasant experience when we are trying to get closer to Allah?

If one goes on Hajj and gets tired one would feel stress and closeness both at the same time the same goes for scholarly labour.human feelings are a complex phenomenon.
