  • What Is The Point Of Praying In Congregation When One Cannot Understand Arabic?

What is the rationale in praying in a congregation when the Imam recites different parts of Quran (Surahs after Surah Fatiha) that are not understandable by the people? When one is alone they can recite the Surahs that they have a little knowledge about. But what about congregations? How can prayer instill Taqwa when one doesn’t know what is being recited?

To God collective show of worshipping is more pleasing to Him. That is why, He asked to erect mosques to hold congregational prayers and He made the gathering at Kaabah a pillar is Deen.

It is our duty to understand Quran and its language. If we ignore our duty it does not become an excuse for an exemption, rather the Muslims will be asked to learn Arabic as much as to understand Quran.
