  • Why Obedience To Other Than Allah Not Regarded As Shirk?

    hello there assalamualaikum.

my question is that in the videos of ghamidi Sahab teaching his book meezan, in the chapter of ‘deen e haq’. ghamidi Sahab explaining verse 56 of surah 51, that

“I did not create jinn and humans except to worship Me.”

ghamidi Sahab said that here 2 things are meant first, that the purpose of creation is only to worship and second, worship only Allah. and while explaining the word ‘ibadah’ he said it is the feeling of servility and humbleness and then as a physical manifestation of it, we perform “parastish” and obedience. my question was that if parastish is the physical manifestation of ibadah (internal feeling), and we know that doing parastish of anything other than Allah is shirk. so why obedience to other than Allah, not regarded as shirk? for example a man obeys when when his wife requests, for taking her to shopping, or a subordinate obeying his officer etc. can you explain this confusion??

Just the way doing parastish of anyone other than Allah is regarded as Shirk, simialrly obedience to anyone other Allah will also fall under shirk, when done for someone as rival to God or parallel to God. Parastish, in all its exhaustive forms, is done for God or for someone parallel to God in the same capacity; obedience however has variations in both its intensity and its physical manifestation and it varies largely with respect to the person for whom it is being done. The obedience to wife and/or superior in an office are the kind of obedience which arise because of certain familial or legal relationships and are in no way the same kind of obedience which is required for God in his capacity as God. The day this happens, it will definitely be categorized as Shirk.

@Irfan76 @UmerQureshi and sir if someone says that only that act of obedience of other than Allah is allowed by which act the intention is to please Allah ultimately through that act of obedience to other than Allah, then this concept would be wrong. right sir?

so now, any obedience to other than Allah can be done even if by that act of obedience, a person does not intend to please Allah through that act. am i right sir that this can be done and the concept above is wrong?

It is more than that. An act of obedience to someone else like parents can be done to please God and parents.

Worship has no upper or lower cases, but obedience has. This is a fact. That is why God has asked us to obey God, His messenger, and the people in authority. All have their own domains to ask obedience for. However, when obedience to someone else goes against God, we are obligated to refuse.
