Yes, sure. Anything of the person, his or her knowledge, a good practice initiated or charity, it will keep benefiting him or her until the good of these things continues to reach the people.

I have heard that a charity given in lifetime is better than the one given after death. Kindly clarify this also.

This is in the situation that one kept taking advantage of one’s wealth and did not make a charity and when one finds that one’s death has approached, one makes charity. This is good, but not that good. Good acts should be done in their best form.
