Quran 9:24 – Why Mother, Daughter And Sister Excluded From Beloved Things?
As salaam u alaykum,
Various tafaseers of Surah Tawbah, Aayat no 24 by prominent scholars including Ghamidi Sb in his Al Bayan Group 2 YouTube series mentions that Fathers, Sons, Brothers, Wives, Tribes, riches, business cant be dearer than Allah and His Messenger and Striving in His cause.
Why are Mothers, Daughters and Sisters not mentioned in this verse. Does it mean that they can be dearer when one is striving for Allah’s cause (migration, jihad etc) ?

The world Asheeratukum means family includes all.
The prominent names or categories were mentioned for the benefits they provide to an adult tribal person more than others.

The confusion stems from the fact that while doing tafseers scholars haven’t clarified this and have been using specific relations only which does not include mothers, sisters and daughters. Even Tafheem Ul Quran by Maulana Maududi’s English translation does the same.
