No, it is not mandatory to recite durud in Salah.
Salah is comprised of two portions namely:
1) Obligatory rituals and utterances AND
2) Optional rituals and utterances
Durud falls in the second category which is optional.
Except for the following rituals and utterances of the Salah, everything else is optional:
