When the Prophet said that the space woman would give birth to her mistress, did the companions understand what this meant?
If not, why wouldn’t they ask for the meaning as the prophet said that Gabriel came to teach them their religion.

That might be understandable to them which is why they might not have asked for its explanation, or if they had one, that might not have been reported.
