Based on multiple presentations and discussions on “sood” it is clear that we cannot earn interest on money invested with a retail bank. However it is not clear if one can use securities offered by the US government as a means to earn income or maintain value of the cash over time due to inflation. Are any of the US government securities permissible or not and under what rationale of our deen?

Details of securities: The United States Treasury offers five types of Treasury marketable securities: Treasury Bills, Treasury Notes, Treasury Bonds, Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS), and Floating Rate Notes (FRNs).
