How Environment Plays A Role In Our Religiousness
Actually I was studying Bertrand Russell’s book “Why I am not Christan” where he discussed why mostly people are religious and they follow it. Arguing that this is true, he says, “To me, all major religions, such as Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, and Communism, are not only false, but also harmful to humanity, according to this logic. It is clear as day that since there is no harmony in them, they are all baseless and of no use.” I do not understand his argument, why all religions should be the same and have harmony among them? But the fact that, for example, every person with a few exceptions has the same religion as the community in which he is born proves that it is the environment that forces him to accept only the religion prevailing there. This seems to be true of Russell. So in such a situation the community in which in one will born will accept it as correct.
