Ghamidi Sb has the view that even if no Hadiths reached us, the context of the Quran would still be clear and independent of them but question is there are multiple ayahs in the Quran that points out an incident but do not mention context or details and mostly these are events that happened with the prophet in real time. Such as Surah Lahab, and Surah Abs, so if no Hadiths reached us, how’d we know what had happened that became the reason for these Ayahs?

Hadith means Akhbar e Ahad or indvidula reporting. The events are the established history. Established history is cetain thing. It is transmitted from one generation to other, for example, the conquest of Alexander the Great or the existence of Plato and Aristotle and their works. The events of history does not reach us through individual reporting but through established history. Indivitual report comes from a person or a few people which is essential doubtful unless investigation conclude that it is correctly reported. What you refer is about the established history.

But the events that I mentioned happened on an individual level. Like in Surah Abs, unlike Namaz the name of the Sahabi and what actually happened was not passed on to me through generations. So, how can it be established history?

From your answer I seem to understand that the context of Quran has also been transmitted in the same way as the Namaz but this doesn’t seem true as in events like these, the details or the true context is not transmitted through generation. In case of Namaz and other Sunnat, it seems easier as they are of a practical nature but saying the same about the context of every Ayah doesn’t sound reasonable that’s why so many differences are found among the context of different ayahs.

Such Akhbar e Ahad which which Quran may refer to, are still Akhbar e Ahad and taken as they are. Even if we had missed them, there is no problem in understanding the message of Quran like the one you cited about the name of the Sahabi. We accept it because it goes with the text, and for the same reason we reject those ones which do no go with the text. There are some incidents ,mentioned in the Quran whose history is not known but still their message is intact. For example, we have lost the history of the prophet Ilyas who is praised like Ibrahim in the Quran. We do not know what exactly the prophet said to his wives which Quran refers to in Suran Tehreem.

If some individual report is mentioned in the Quran as it is, it is then not an individual report but an established fact.
