    Difference Between Nabi And Rasool

    Aslamoalaikum,

    When I was studying in school in Pakistan, in the books of islamiat studies, we were taught the differences between nabi and rasool. As far as I recall, we were taught the following:

    1. every rasool is nabi but not the contrary

    2. rasool brings sharia’ah but nabi does not

    3. rasool cannot be killed but nabi could

    and perhaps one or two points more…

    When I started following ghamidi sb. I learned that rasool brings the judgement of Allah on the Earth (sort of a mini judgement day), and then those who do not follow are eventually punished plus rasool cannot be killed which we were taught in school as well.

    Now my question is that what rationale do we have about the differences between rasool and nabi. Where are we getting this information from?

    P.s. Listening to Ahmadi people, at times, I realize that they make their own definitions and difference between the two terms.

    What is all this confusion and its source?
