  • If The Song Is About Alcohol Would It Be Permissible To Listen To It?

If a song is based upon alcohol or protagonist being drunk or so on what would be the ruling ,,,

Like there’s a lyrics a sad song which states as

” I’ve been drinking more alcohol for the past five days

    did u checked on me??

And another song which states as

“Down the river we are drunk and all of our thumbs went up in the air ”

The upper song 👆👆 is mostly the energetic vibe

And is used by many editors for action genre anime edits ,,, and so on,

    What would be the ruling??

This is all about aesthetics. No hard and fast ruling can be applied. Poetry has been given more licence than ordinary talk.

It is upon that person to decide he should listen it or not.

Than can someone add it to some edit , like everyone has different idea of what they wanna listen,, but if I made a edit I’ll make it public will it be sin then??? It’s a way to earn money ,,

The same rule applies. One that is not a sin, is not a sin.

Okkk, so a if a song contains a swear word

    As people do

Like (bitch, or other ) then,,,,

Kindly tell me abt the song where the singer is a woman

And her song’s name is “boss bitch”

The song basically is upon a woman who don’t fit with other women in terms of wearing heels or being stylish but she loves her own individuality, and is firm upon it, but her song contains a lyric ” I’m bitch n I’m a boss”

    What is the ruling ,,,,

Similarly a Korean women sung a song her song’s name is” vengeance “

It’s about her revenge on her enemies

Her lyrics contains ” bad bitch just a. Real bad bitch”

The song is about her revenge and the people whom she is avenging are looking at her as a bad person and she don’t mind it ,, and say it’s ok call me that , however it’s like that

    Kindly elaborate further,,

This is what you have to decide. We can tell only the rules. Applications are numerous and are supposed to be done by the person involved.

    See Verse 7: 33

Five categories are mentioned. If one finds any of these in a thing, song, poetry, dress, etc., one needs to avoid it.

Say: My Lord has only forbidden lewd acts, whether open or hidden and usurping rights and wrongful oppression and that you associate with God that for which He did not send down any sanction and that you fabricate something about God that you know not.

I have read this verse ,,, but the wrongful operession? Does it mean any type of operession? Or just wrongful where the person is wrong,

And secondly umer qureshi sir told that sexually explicit songs are haram ,

If the song is upon sexual matter but not explicit, than?

    My confusion is still there,,,

I also .asked abt swear words ,,

And religious context for reference towards something , kindly elaborate it

Oppression is wrongful. The word wrongful emphasized that wrongfulness of oppression.

When your learnt the lewdness is Haram so you can decide that certain song contains lewdness so it is haram to hear it. And another song is not explicit it it so it won’t be Haram. This is your call.

    Abt swear words?

  • Dr. Irfan Shahzad

    Scholar September 3, 2023 at 11:55 pm

Swearing is common in every culture to tell how important a thing is to one. It is okay to swear upon different things unless it is necessary to swear only upon God like taking an oath solemnly in court or while making an agreement. Then it means that we are making God witness to our word.

By swear I meant cursing in poetry ,,

Using curse word for describing their circumstances that hoe much they are in trouble bcz of the problem or just cursing to their enemies or just cursing to people who did bad to them etc,,

Is cursing is haram in itself?

And what is the ruling if it is n poetry which ain’t normal talk

  • Dr. Irfan Shahzad

Cursing is not haram of course. unnecessarily or unjustified cursing is wrong. The same rule applies here too.

  • Ibrahim Ali

    Member September 5, 2023 at 7:59 am

I see jazakallah but in poetry poets use cursing same as we do in our life , cursing is unnecessary all the time I think but if it is unjustified than it’s a different thing ,

Am I right?. Correct me if I’m wrong.

  • Dr. Irfan Shahzad

Cursing is not unnecessary all the time. The prophet cursed a people who betrayed him and assassinated around 40 companions deceitfully.

What is justified or unjustified is to be decided by the person on the spot.

    Member September 5, 2023 at 11:50 pm

I see ,, cursing Like swear words are also by our prophet Muhammad Saw for cursed people,

    Jazakallah for the answer,
