Aoa, when we repent from sins and we know that we might slip again like we know from experience it takes time to fully rid oneself of the sins and there is a back and forth until that sin vanishes away, is saying to Almighty Allah SWT that “I’ll not do that sin again” with a firm intention the same as making a promise with Him?

Not to commit a sin is a promise we have already made to God. This second vow or promise is a repetition of the same and a reminder.
