    • Dr. Mustafa Khattab:

Do not let your eyes crave what We have allowed some of the disbelievers to enjoy; the ˹fleeting˺ splendour of this worldly life, which We test them with. But your Lord’s provision ˹in the Hereafter˺ is far better and more lasting.

    Ta-Ha, Ayah 131

Kindly explain the instruction here, what are the things that disbelievers have been given to enjoy?

Doesn’t this create a hesitation/disinterest for believers regarding progress in this world?

This is about the affluent chiefs of Quraish and Arabs. Their being wealthy should not perplex the companions of the prophet. These deniers of truth soon met their fate. This verse deals with the feelings of some companions of the prophet in a particular situation why those deniers of truth were still enjoying the facilities in abundance and not receiving the punishment of God for their blatant denial of the truth.

This has nothing to do with making progress in the world. God has called wealth a Khair, goodness to earn the pleasure of God with and be grateful to Him.
