Favouring Worldly Life Over Hereafter
ٱلَّذِینَ یَسۡتَحِبُّونَ ٱلۡحَیَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡیَا عَلَى ٱلۡـَٔاخِرَةِ وَیَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِیلِ ٱللَّهِ وَیَبۡغُونَهَا عِوَجًاۚ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ فِی ضَلَـٰلِۭ بَعِیدࣲ﴿ ٣ ﴾
• Dr. Mustafa Khattab:
˹They are˺ the ones who favour the life of this world over the Hereafter and hinder ˹others˺ from the Way of Allah, striving to make it ˹appear˺ crooked. It is they who have gone far astray.
Ibrahim, Ayah 3
And many other verses also mention these people favouring the life of this world over the other, what is meant by it?

When there comes a conflict between a worldly good against a benefit in the hereafter, and one prefers the worldly good and ignores the consequences in the hereafter, for example, in the matter of earning a haram living, or preferring falsehood over truth due to one’s biases, then one has preferred al Dunya over the hereafter.
It is not about earning worldly benefits keeping in view the religious obligations.
