Why are there several timings for Salat al-Dhuhr and Salat al-Asr (ie; Dhuhr has two different Adhan’s, and Asr has two different Adhan’s)? Whenever it is time for these prayers, I do them, but I will hear another Adhan for the same prayer.

The names of the prayers are the names of the time like we have in English morning (fajr), afternoon (Zuhar), late afternoon (Asr) evening (maghrib) and night (isha).

When the jurists tried to determine the exact time when a particular time starts, they differed naturally. They did not have a clock back then. Little differences are still there in different calendars, despite the fact that we have watches and other gadgets to determine the timings, for example, of sunrise and sunset. You can follow anyone of them according to your understanding. Hanafid appointed double the size of the shadow of an object the start of the time of Zuhar, and Shafi’i appointed the same size of the shadow of an object the start of the time of zuhar.

You can follow any of them according to your understanding.
