Employment Situation
AsalamoAlaikum,
I seek guidance regarding my employment situation. While hired for technical duties, I also undertook additional responsibilities over 24 months. Despite commendation from my boss, a senior member told my boss I do a lot of politics. The allegations led to an investigation. Upon finding no evidence, my boss intended to terminate me based on hearsay. My boss called one of our colleagues who happens to be a close friend. My friend told me that the boss was going to promote him to my position and terminate me.
I felt betrayed and felt my character was butchered by my boss whom I called and trusted as an elder brother.
Upon learning this, I resigned immediately, and sought compensation for the extra work, although not contractually obligated but, when he wanted to fire me like this in a tyrannical way without allowing me to even listen to my side of the story or any evidence. Now, he is finding ways not to pay me for my extra work.
Is this permissible in Islam to ask for compensation for work after I resigned and wrote this in my resignation later? Please keep in mind, that there was no contract but he never stopped me from doing extra work in the past.
This is my side of the story. May Allah forgive us all. Ameen.
JazakAllah for your counsel.
P.S. I am more content now. I started reading the translation of the Quran. I started praying. I believe this is just a miracle to bring me close to Allah. Now, I think, any Rizq taken away but brings you closer to Allah is actually a reward.
