  • The View Of Shaving Beard As Imitating Woman

    Salam,

According to Ghamidi Sahab from the 23 questions about the beard video part 2, shaving the beard is not imitating woman because there is still distinction between man and woman even after shaving.

However, the scholars especially the classical one relate the action of shaving beard as imitating woman since beard only grows on man exclusively, thus consider it Haram unlike shaving moustache.

    Can anyone clarify this?

    Thanks

There are certain races whose men do not have a beard naturally. So no one considers it unnatural there for men for not having a beard. Since most scholars were used to seeing men with beards, therefore, they perceived it feminine not to have a beard. On the other hand, some women grow a beard, especially in their later age and some others for disturbance in their hormones.

It is a perception and, therefore does not provide a solid ground to make an argument that shaving a beard is imitating women. Masculinity and femininity are culturally determined. Culturally shaving a beard is not considered imitating women.
