What’s the difference between kufr and kafir? Ghamidi sahb said that we can decide which action is kufr and which not but can’t decide that which person is a kafir. I understand kafir is someone who denies truth deliberately but is kufr that too? If so how can we say this action is knowingly denying truth. He said that we also can’t decide for a person that he is committing kufr but In surah maida ayat 72 that those who say Allah is messiah are committing kufr it’s a clear statement for everyone who says so, isn’t it ? Then can’t we say to those who believe in it that they are committing kufr

We can identify a particular creed whether it is kufr or not but we cannot identify whether the person commiting or following that creed is a kafir or nor. Kufr is based on an ideology (creed) and flaws in an ideology can be identified and pointed out just the way Quran 5:72 pointed out that these particular ideologies of pantheism and trinity and told us that these ideologies are kufr and people were committing this kufriya ideology, but people doing his kufr will only be caled kafir after itmam-e-hujjah when they reject this truth knowingly or when they reject the Messenger Prophet Muhammad (sws) at that time knowingly.

So the term kufr doesn’t mean knowingly rejecting truth?

And if a person says he believes in monotheism but at the same time he is involved in shirk I know we won’t call him a mushrik until he accepts that but can we say that about that person that he is doing shirk?

Similarly can we say that those believing in trinity are comitting kufr?

      – That person cannot be called a Mushrik unless he admits it but we can point to his practices as having shirk in them with arguments.

      – Trinity is a shirk and effectively kufr however, to call people believing in trinity as Mushrik or Kafir, we need evidence of their admission and their deliberate denial of monotheism.

Can you please provide me the definition of kufr.

And you said we can say about their practices having shirk not for the person himself but in Quran Allah declared the persons practicing those believes that they are doing kufr he didn’t say that the belief is kufr then why can’t we say about the person.

Because we are not God therefore we do not have divine information in this regard that which person has become kafir unless the person confesses to this fact himself. Therefore, an ideology can be called kufr or shirkiya but this does not mean that the person following that ideology is doing so intentionally or because of a genuine mistake in interpretation/understanding. Quran calls belief of trinity or people committing trinity as Kufr or kufriya practice in essence (because it is in essence rejecting God), and then later it is also informed that after itmam-e-hujjat, the truth has now becomes clear to people committing such acts and they were then called kafir too and the directive of punishment was given for those people of the book as well. But if a person who according to us is following a kufriya ideolody or a shirkiya ideology but claims to be a Muslim and presents his arguments to support his case, then we have no right to call that person Kafir, we can criticize the ideology but we cannot call that person Kafir instead he will be called a Muslim as per his claim.
