Someone recently recommended me a specific dua called “Manzil.” Is this a legitimate/valid dua? It is composed by combining many verses from different parts of the Quran. It is on the following page:

    https://islampdf.com/manzil-dua/

    It is Surah:

    Fatiha (1-7)

    Baqarah(1-5, 163, 255-257, 284-286)

    Imran (18, 26, 27)

    And many more

It was recommended to ward against evil eye (nazr), black magic, etc.

In some places it says it is from Kanz al-Ummal by Muttaqi al-Hindi but there’s no reference. Also even if it is, does it seem like a dua from a sahih hadith?

It is said to be compiled on the basis of Weak Ahadith. References are provided at the end. All the narrations have one common narrator in them Abu janab Yahya bin Abi Haiya Al-Kalbi

(أبو جناب يحيى بن أبي حية الكلبي) who is weak and his narrations are not acceptable to Hadith Scholars.

Imam Dahabi has categorized him as weak and called this specific narration as Munkar (Strange/Odd). He writes:

“قال الذهبي في التلخيص: “قلت: أبو جناب الكلبي ضعفه الدارقطني، والحديث منكر

There is no prohibition on reciting Quran from wherever one wants to recite, however any linkage of such recitation with protection from evil eye or black magic is based purely on human experiences. It is not something sanctioned by the Prophet (sws) for this particular objective.
