    Asalamualaikum,

Recently, I’ve been going through Ghamidi’s Sahab’s Traditional/Counter-Narrative series. In one of the episodes, he mentions that the angels were uncomfortable with the creation of humans, as they suspected conflict amongst them due to their free will. However, doesn’t the ability to think that point through imply free will in of itself. So what is free will exactly?

For what i have understood free will is the power to not only differentiate but decide for oneself what to choose. The angels doesn’t have free will they just showed their concern but they dont have the capability to disobey. They dont have the will.

Only humans and jinnat have free will that is why only shaitaan disobeyed he is from jinnat. And sarkash ho jana is only used for jinns and insaan.

Free will entails choosing between good and evil which may result in conflict and fasad. Then God shows them the people who would do good. Their names were taught to Adam which are mentioned in the Qur’an. See for details the annotation of Ghamidi saheb and Islahi saheb’s commentary.

There is no such thing that angels do not have free will. They do have that, that is why they were able to think independently and raised the question on the creation of mankind.
