Are The References Of Ibn Kathir Reliable?
Hello there, Assallam u alaikum.
my question is that ibn Kathir, often in his tafsir is said to make statements about about commentaries of different sahabah regarding verse of Quran in discussion. are his references authentic and reliable? for example if he says that ibn Abbas said about this ayah…., so is it an authentic saying of Ibn Abbas?
secondly, also which book is reliable for tafsir of ibn Abbas.?

These sayings of sahaba depends as well on sanad therefore same usool which applies to riwayats will be apploed here….
You can as well see those things in other tafaseers like Durr mathur of imam sayuti…
