Can we nod or is nod aslo a shirk instead of bowing ? I mean bowing in a way to respect little slight bow.

Prostration and bowing down are forbidden when they are done in a particular way which indicates that they are being performed to revere someone one.
On the other hand the normal gestures of being humble are not shirk like standing in respect of someone or nodding etc.
