Private parts or sex organs are the essential parts to be covered. A woman’s chest, additionally, is a private part, that needs to be covered, too. The adjacent parts with the private parts are also covered for better covering. Therefore, from naval to knee must be covered for both male and female bodies. Women should cover the adjacent parts of the chest like the area below the neck, and shoulders.

The more a body is covered the better. We can categorize the level of covering a body as essential, good, better and the best. However, that what is usually stays exposed needs not to cover.

The head is not counted as a private part. However, covering of heads for both men and women has been a cultural norm that is appreciable.

Headcovering during the prayer is one of the manners of prayer, it is not obligatory in the sense that if head is uncovered it will invalidate the prayer of a woman.

@irfan76 so for females does the prayer valid if she wear a short that is upto knees beause in males the prayer is valid even in tahmad that is upto knees or head covering for males and females in prayer plays same role in terms of adaab or different?like if a man doesn’t wear a topi and he is wearing a shorts upto knees then his prayer is valid and he is not sinfull but for female does it has same ruilings or same amount of ajar with compare to males if she is not wearing head scars and a dress upto knees

There are two different things. Covering and prayer. There is no ruling on how much one should cover his or her body while praying. This is our sense of standing in front of God which makes us conscious of our mannerisms including dressing.

Covering of bodies is required when men and women face each other. The manners of meeting is given in the verse 24: 30 and 31.
