Prophets Born Prophets Or They Chosen As Prophets
The common belief is that prophets are born prophets rather than God electing them as prophets after finding in someone the necessary characters suitable to choose one as a prophet. The prophecy about Hazrat Isa(pbuh) would be a prophet right before he was born to Maryam by angels in surah Imran verse 45 seems to concur with the belief that prophets are born prophets. But if prophets are born prophets it means they have no other choice but to be prophets. If this is the case, they are not part of the test and don’t have any free will to go astray. Is there a possibility that the verse can be translated as “The angels said, ‘Mary, God gives you news of a Word from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, who Might be held in honour in this world and the next, who Might be one of those brought near to God.” where will is replaced with might?

It is in the knowledge of Allah that a certain man will be good enough to be a prophet.
Even after becoming a prophet their free will is intact. They, out of their free will, accept and assume the office of prophethood.
In the case of Jesus it was a miracle. God made him speak. But he was not conscious. He attained his sensibility over the time. He was a prophet in the knowledge of God just like other prophets.
