God has told us to be good to your parents. To obey them is subject to some conditions, that their command or advice is not a sin, unethical or immoral, illegal or illogical. One should avoid hurting them, as they should avoid usurping the due right of of their children and necessary freedom.

However they are our benefactors and more experienced. One should have solid reason for not accepting their advice. Then it won’t be a sin.
