How should a Muslim approach content like violence, gore, horror or narrative with a depressing ending? Since Deen likes to see a Muslim as a purified, gentle and hopeful servant of God, and for that sake we even avoid eating meat of beasts and blood to avoid becoming beastly as well.

And there seems to be a general negative feeling of humanity towards the mentioned factors. So my question is that should a Muslim avoid such content?

(It is not a question of ethics (since obviously these factors can be part of a neutral narrative) but a question of protecting one’s nature since it does seems to affect people to some extent but there is an argument that people need to be exposed to such content in order to prepare them to face the harshness of life like brutality of war).

It has nothing to do with ethics or the purification of oneself. it is about human experience, if anything leads to something bad or negative results one needs to avoid or take precautionary measures.

And what if one doesn’t avoid or take precautionary measures in this case (i.e bad results being evident)?

Some people deliberately choose to disturb their minds with such content to gain pleasure from the adrenaline rush. Also some arguing that it prepares and strengthens the mind against disturbing scenarios in real life.

Unless it turns into bad actions, watching or reading about such things is not a sin. If one thinks such activities might corrupt him or her, one should avoid them.
