Please consider and listen to the video in full.

Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Zubair seems to suggest that The Holy Quran has been transmitted through the Qiraat of the Qurraa (the professional reciters) of the Quran. Obviously these professional reciters are in countable number in each and every era/ generation of muslims. Therefore, Dr. Saheb is drawing the line of similarity in transmission of the Quran and Hadith.

The same ideas are discussed in this book ‘Fikr e Ghamidi’ as well. I feel there in he also seems to suggest that the written manuscripts of the Quran available are agreed upon due to their verification from the professional reciters of every era, again, who are limited in number gaining the Quran from a limited number of the reciters of the previous generation. Therefore, its transmission is very much like the transmission of Hadith literature that is dependant on Akhbaar of a certain knowledgeable and professional group of people.

How right OR wrong is this interpretation?

This is absolutely wrong. Qur’an was in the language of the companions. They didn’t not need a qari to teach them. They transmitted to their children and they their children and the people around them. The Qur’an had never been confined to reading of a few experts like Hindu sacred scripts, vedas, and they teach the people. Every one was a reader of the Qur’an. The qaris were experts in technicalities. Like the linguists in every language. The language is not transmitted through them. All the people speak the language but the linguists are expert in technicalities of the language.

So it is a false arguement based on blatant misunderstanding of history of transmission of the Qur’an.
