Validity Of Nikah
I did Nikah to a girl who belonged to another religion and was married to the same religion man both legally and religiously. She was separated from her husband for a long time but was not divorced both legally and religiously. She became Muslim and we did Nikah. The Imam told that our Nikah is valid as she has changed her religion. Is our Nikah valid religiously? As our marriage is not registered legally.

If public ally announced it is a valid nikah. However, one should follow the rules and law of the land to make the things fair.
