How should a lay man approach differences in opinions of scholars. It is no problem when it is an ideological problem such as evolution but in case of a matter of application ( such as in inheritance). There 3 ways I am often faced with:

    – choosing an opinion for yourself based on what intellectually is most appealing ( however this requires a great deal of research and reading sometimes and you might still find yourself misled owing to your inherent deficiencies in the religious sciences)

    – choosing according to ease ( appealing when the opinions do not seem any more or less hard than each other generally but might be easier for u individually- like me choosing to pray asr at the earlier prescribed time, however, this opens the question of bias that comes with what u want to be right)

    – choosing according to hardship/ the most work ( I guess, if u do the most possible, u feel secure that doing less might be sinful but more is atleast acceptable if not better, ex- a woman observing strict parda to feel completely free from being sinful. However in my personal experience, it has a tendency to make religion really difficult and I’m not sure self inflicted hardship is wise to a productive life)
