    Is Timing Of Fasting From First Light To Complete Darkness?

    Please let me know why we end a fast at Maghrib time and not at Isha? Seems like Quran states to end a fast when it is dark outside.

    Since a fast starts at first light (not at sun rise), it seems to make sense to finish at the end of light at Isha time (Not at sunset).

    Thank you for your response. Ghamidi Sahib said in this video that it is ok to break fast at night; which in his opinion is 10 to 15 minutes after Maghrib. I still think it is not complete darkness until Isha and Isha in summer is around one hour after sunset.

      The words used in Quran 2:187 are “اِلَی الَّیۡلِ” which refers to night – the difference lies in the application of the word ‘lail‘ as to when does it actually start. Linguistically, this word can be applied from the start of time right after the sunset (when everything is not completely dark yet).
