Itmam-e-Hujjah And The Neighboring Eight Empires
Assalamualaikum!
Can we tell this with surety with historical references that the common people (awaam) at the grassroots of 8 empires against whom the sahaba did qitaal outside of Arab were aware of the message that was being conveyed by the Holy Prophet (PBUH)?
If means of communication even in this day and age are prone to false alterations as we see daily, then how can we expect the message in that era to have been perfectly reached to the furthest of these people?

The punishment for idolaters at the time prophet as per itmam e hujjat was to kill them if they don’t accept islam and quit shirk. My question is what happens to the children and women of idolaters? Is the ruling same for them too?

Children are exempted, of course, the women were not killed as well, because it was not necessary. It was understood that without their men, they would not survive without coming into the fold of Islam. This was a social construction of that time.

So the children were converted forcefully or they were given a choice?
Secondly were they enslaved, or were they living in their own properties with their mothers?
Because it is possible that some woman might not accept islam because she is probably angry and grieved about her husband being killed.

It was not allowed to enslave the polytheists. Islam doesn’t allow to accept Islam. The history tells that all were grew up Muslims and women didn’t show anything rebellious. In fact, Islam’s invitation to to worship One God of their forefather Ibrahim and to condemn idolatry was quite acceptable but their men were an obstacle due to their chiefs. Once that obstacle removed people found no hesitation to accept Islam.
