    Assalamu Alaikum, is it permissible to lie in order not to hurt ones feelings? Like for example if my friend is wearing a dress she likes but I don’t and she asks me if it looks pretty, if I know if I don’t compliment her, it will ruin things between us or she might take it in a rude way, can I say yes it is? JazakAllahu Khairan

    In this situation, you need to choose between two values. The goal is to determine which value you can give up without negatively impacting the other. I believe this approach is correct, but I’m sure those more knowledgeable than I am will provide better insights. Thank you.
