Difference Between Nafs And Soul
What is the difference between ‘nafs’ and ‘rooh’? And in what meanings the word ‘rooh’ is used in the Quran? When human dies we say the rooh/soul is taken. Is the rooh or nafs that is taken in death?

The word Rooh has mainly been used for “Communication from Allaah” and secondly it has been used as a title for Jibreel.
Nafs is used in the Qur’aan in the same way as “self” is used in English. I am not aware of any specific word for soul in the Qur’aan.
