Quran 24:60
Posted by Syed Bukhari on July 6, 2024 at 10:39 amIsn’t there a clear mismatch with the actual translation of the verse and what Ghamidi sahab translates it to in his “Response (Parda) series”?

Other Translations: As for elderly women past the age of marriage, there is no blame on them if they take off their outer garments, without revealing their adornments. But it is better for them if they avoid this altogether. And Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
Other translations seem to suggest that the “outer garment” in the verse refers to jilbab, and the older women are allowed to take it off if they are not wearing any adornments.
Also, can you give a little clarification on what “Ghaira mutabarrijaatin bi zeenah” really means?

Scholar July 10, 2024 at 5:30 am“Ghaira mutabarrijaatin bi zeenah” means not showing off their adornments. mutabarrijaatin means the women who show off. According to Ghamidi saheb, this instruction is in the condition when the old woman is wearing ornaments. She is allowed to take off her outer garment. The sentence has no separator, which may accept the meaning of ‘if’, that is, if they are not wearing ornaments. Taking off the outer garment is associated with showing off adornments, it shows that this instruction is for the situation when the woman is wearing ornaments.

Sorry I couldn’t understand this part. Could you please elaborate?
Thank You
