The hadith has been quoted by both Bukhari and Muslim, too. However, the practice is not adopted by the scholars as sunnah because the prophet forbade the common Muslim to offer prayer after Asr.

This is true. She lived till the time of Hazrat Umar and was assassinated by someone. A woman can lead a prayer but it was not made a practice as it was against the cultural norms and for a woman it was not possible to lead for the whole month.
