    Assalm o Alaikum sir,

My question is we have been told that Islam did not start slavery but it was already present. As we know other religions before Islam mostly like Christianity, Judaism etc also part of Islam. So why God didn’t condemn slavery in old scriptures? Plz enlighten me in this regard.

    JazakAllah

Slavery has always been condemned in the old scriptures, too. Bani Israel were told to set their kins free if they are made slave as war prisoners or to pay their debt. However as a punishment slavery was inflicted upon the enemies.
