Like in religious terms. So physiological, I believe irregular spotting and menstruation are usually similar in that in that they are rupture in uterine lining but menstruation is just the much more intense version ( greater hormonal fluctuations causes full breakdown). I’ve never experienced it before but after birth breastfeeding mothers have fluctuations in hormones that can cause both irregular cycles and spotting.

Real scenario: had strange blood ( different from usual menstruation ) appear as cycle was late. I assumed start of period so didn’t pray maghrib but nothing happened so I thought maybe this is istihada . Took ghusl anyways, and prayed Maghrib and isha together as I thought I should have prayed Maghrib was farz on me. Turns out, I became impure around midnight so like maybe I shouldn’t have prayed ? I don’t know. This is so confusing. Was my prayer valid ?Is there a female scholar in training on Al-Mawrid? It is my humble request that she consider writing a paper on this ( for I can’t imagine how stressful this must be for women with gynaecological conditions). This is likely going to recur so I thought I might as well clear my concepts.

It should not stressful. If you misjudge and miss a prayer, it is not a sin. If you said a prayer and you find out that you were impure, even then it is not a sin. You may wish to educate yourself on this matter, but with God, every act in His obedience is worthy of Sawab.

In your situation, you have to decide whether it is menstruation or not, or an occasional impurity, and follow the Shariah accordingly. You may take advice from your doctor.
