  • What Is The Ruling On Owning And Displaying Action Figures And Figurines?

    Assalamualaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I am hoping someone might be able to provide guidance on the following question of mine. What is the ruling on owning and displaying action figures and figurines? Specifically, can an adult collect and display toy figurines of dinosaurs, fictional creatures such as dragons, or anthropomorphic dinosaurs?

In my readings, I have encountered differing opinions. Some state that such items are permissible if they are intended for children. Others mention that they are permissible if they depict non-living beings, while some hold that they are prohibited entirely.

As someone who collects, displays and photographs these items purely as a hobby, I wish to clarify whether owning and displaying such figures would be considered impermissible. Please note that these are merely toys and not in any way objects of worship (Audhubillah).

Anything prohibited has to be objectinalabe ethically or morally. The condemnation of photos or statues in Islam is subject to shirk or indecency.

Collecting toys is a harmless hobby
