Why There Is More Zakat On Production As Compared To Business
My question is about the wisdom behind the calculation of the zakat threshold. Why is a larger amount (5%, 10%, or 20%) due on production whenever it is produced, as compared to the 2.5% due on a business’s income over an entire year?

Savings and investments are limited sources, while production is an ongoing income. Therefore, the rate of zakat for production is higher than that of savings and investments.
