Zakat And Taxes
If during prophet’s time, Zakat was forcefully collected and distributed to needy, then in this time and age, taxes are collected forcefully and a portion of taxes (somewhat equivalent to Zakat rate) is distributed to poor by all governments of the world. Does that mean paying one’s taxes fulfills one’s Zakat obligation?

That is correct. Zakat obligation will be considered fulfilled to the extent of the taxes paid. Remaining zakat obligation, if any, will need to be paid only.
